Overview

Kinetiq ("we," "our," or "the app") is an educational math game that uses your device's camera to track body movements. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how the app handles data.

Camera Usage

Kinetiq uses your device's front-facing camera to detect body movements (hands, elbows, knees, and head). All camera processing happens entirely on your device. We want to be clear about what this means:

• No images or video are ever recorded, stored, or transmitted
• Camera data is processed in real time and immediately discarded
• No facial recognition or identification is performed
• The camera feed never leaves your device

Face Data

To turn your movements into game controls, Kinetiq uses on-device machine learning (Google's MediaPipe pose and hand detection) to estimate the position of body and facial landmarks — such as your hands, elbows, knees, and head, including reference points like the nose, eyes, and ears that are used to detect head position. We want to be specific about how this face data is handled:

• What is collected: Only ephemeral landmark coordinates — the on-screen positions of body and facial points — computed in real time from the live camera frame. No image, video, photograph, face map, or faceprint is ever created or collected.
• How it is used: Solely to map your physical movements to in-game actions (for example, moving your head or hand to select an answer). Face data is never used for identification, authentication, advertising, analytics, profiling, or any other purpose.
• Retention: Landmark data exists only momentarily in device memory while a single camera frame is processed, and is immediately discarded. Nothing is recorded, saved, or retained — retention is zero.
• Disclosure and sharing: Face data is never transmitted off your device and is never shared with us or any third party. The MediaPipe machine-learning models are downloaded to your device so that all detection runs locally; your camera, face, and body data are never uploaded.
• Storage location: All processing happens entirely on your device. No face or body data is stored on any server or in the cloud.
• No facial recognition: Kinetiq does not perform facial recognition or identification and cannot determine who you are.

Data Storage

Kinetiq stores game scores, progress, and theme preferences locally on your device using your browser's localStorage. This data:

• Never leaves your device
• Is not sent to any server
• Is not shared with any third party
• Can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser/app data

No Personal Data Collection

Kinetiq does not collect any personal information. Specifically:

• No user accounts or sign-ups are required
• No names, email addresses, or contact information are collected
• No analytics or tracking tools are used
• No advertising is displayed
• No data is sold or shared with third parties

Network Requests

The app makes limited network requests to load resources needed for functionality:

• MediaPipe models (the on-device pose and hand detection models) are downloaded from cdn.jsdelivr.net so that movement detection can run locally on your device. These are one-way downloads of standard model files; no camera, face, or body data is ever uploaded or transmitted in the process.
• Google Fonts are loaded from fonts.googleapis.com for visual styling.

No other network requests are made. The app does not communicate with any backend server, and no user, camera, or face data is ever sent off your device.

Children's Privacy

Kinetiq is designed to be suitable for learners of all ages. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since no personal data is collected or transmitted, the app is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by design.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
